In this paper, Beijing Municipal Bureau of Statistics January 1999 January Beijing aged survey data to elderly and young people in Beijing for the elderly remarriage attitude and views were compared. The study shows that 54% of the elderly are in favor of remarriage, while 29% are against it. 68% of middle-aged and young people are in favor of the remarriage of the elderly and 15% of the people oppose it. The middle-aged and young people are more open-minded than the elderly. The proportion of male elderly favoring the elderly remarry is higher than that of the female, and the urban elderly favor the elderly remarriage more than the elderly in the countryside. What is very interesting is that most elderly people now have their own husbands who are in favor of remarriage of older persons, and the most elderly people who are widowed are the least favored to remarry the elderly. Young people and the elderly are very much in agreement about the resistance to remarriage. They think that the resistance to remarriage mainly stems from the traditional concepts of the elderly themselves.
