According to the State Science and Technology Commission, during the “Eighth Five-Year Plan” period, China’s biotechnology has achieved a number of major achievements at the international level. In general, it is close to the international level, ranking first in Asia and advanced in developing countries. Biotechnology, as one of the most important high-tech fields in the world today, has great social benefits and market potential, and has become a pillar industry for competing development in various countries. Its technical structure covers four parts: genetic engineering, cell engineering, enzyme engineering, and fermentation engineering.
