2nd China Film Week Held in Dubai
The second China Film Week kicked off on September 29 in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Renowned Chinese film and television directors and actors, including Zhang Jizhong, Tian Yusheng, Chen Jianbin, Jiang Qinqin, and Han Geng made appearances on the red carpet during the evening.
Several popular Chinese blockbusters were screened throughout the week, including How Long Will I Love You, Hold Your Hands, and The Photographer.
Sheikh Majid Al Mualla, chairman of the Board of Directors at“Halla China” (hello in Arabic), said that the Chinese film industry is “an important force in the international film market, which has achieved tremendous growth in the past few years.”
“Dubai China Film Week invites Chinese artists and filmmakers to the UAE to learn about the country’s top film production infrastructure and post-production teams, hoping to further strengthen friendly relations between the two countries through cooperation,” he added.
China’s Consul General to Dubai Li Xuhang said in his speech that film is an important form of cultural exchange, being a window to showcase the culture of a country, and is an important way to enhance mutual understanding between people of all countries.
“Halla China” is an initiative jointly launched by the Dubai Meraas Group and the Dubai Holding Group. The program launches projects and activities covering trade, investment, culture, tourism, and other fields, aiming to further consolidate and expand bilateral relations between China and the UAE under the Belt and Road Initiative.
“Embrace China”Show Extends Greetings to Houston’s Chinese Communities
More than 1,000 Chinese and American audiences marveled at the acrobatic and traditional Chinese music performances on October 4 in Houston, the fourth largest city in the United States.
“Embrace China,” the 2019 China National Day Celebration Multi-Arts Show, was organized by the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese(AFROC).
Featuring international award-winning acrobatic performances, traditional Chinese music, Chinese opera, and other attractions, the show received much applause and appreciation from the audience.
Before the show, Chinese Consul General in Houston Cai Wei addressed the audience and stated that overseas Chinese in the U.S. have actively supported China’s development, building bridges between the peoples of China and the United States. Liu Qi, head of the “Embrace China” art troupe, said that the aim of the show is to spread and promote traditional Chinese culture. He noted that overseas Chinese have made special contributions to China’s development over the past 70 years. The show intends to send warm regards and greetings to local Chinese communities.
Houston is the first stop in the U.S. for this year’s “Embrace China,” which will also be staged in Washington, New York, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, among other cities.
China Youth Contemporary Art Exhibition Debuts in Romania
The Art Safari 2019 exhibition in Romania held the opening ceremony of its International Pavilion, which houses the China Youth Contemporary Art Exhibition, on September 27.
The Art Safari exhibition, held annually under the patronage of Bucharest City Hall, is the most influential art exhibition in Romania.
Ioana Ciocan, general manager of the Art Safari, said at the ceremony that the organizer set up a separate international pavilion for the first time and dedicated it to China.
According to her, contemporary Chinese artists “deserve”to be the first exhibitors of the international pavilion, as there are frequent cultural exchanges between Romania and China.
Chinese Ambassador Jiang Yu expressed her gratitude to the Romanian organizer for highlighting China’s contemporary art.
Jiang spoke highly of the continuous development of bilateral relations since diplomatic relations were established 70 years ago, adding that in-depth SinoRomanian cultural exchanges have injected new vitality into their long-standing friendship.
The China Youth Contemporary Art Exhibition, organized by China’s Network of International Culturalink Entities, displayed 52 oil paintings, sculptures, installations, and images of 29 Chinese young artists.
