汤姆是美国肯塔基州一所公立小学的非洲裔小男孩,今年10岁。他转学进这个学校的时间不长,性格孤僻内向,和同学们相处不是很融洽。如何让他尽快地融入新校园,校方也犯了难。后来,通过家访,老师了解到,汤姆的父亲常年在外打工,母亲凯丽是一个家庭主妇,因为刚刚迁到这个社区,和邻里间的交流不多,孩子不在家的时候她就待在家里做做家务,看看电视。凯丽妈妈其实也意识到了自己孩子的教育问题,不过苦于没有办法矫正他的行为。
Tom is an African-American little boy at a public elementary school in Kentucky and is 10 years old this year.
