OBJECTIVE: To elucidate the relationship between the high math abilities of children with abacus and numerical distance effects. Innovations: This study explored the relationship between high math abilities acquired through abacus calculation and numerical distance effects (an important indicator of quantitative processing) and the neural basis for abacus children with high math skills. Methods: The subjects selected children who had been trained for one year and a half beads, the task of experiment was digital comparison tasks (digital form is divided into two kinds of Arabic numerals and dots), record the children’s EEG information Different groups of different forms of digital forms of behavior and EEG data were analyzed. CONCLUSIONS: There is a difference between the neural basis for obtaining quantitative information on the number of children with high math ability through abacus calculation and that of normal children, indicating that the abacus calculation may alter the neural basis of children’s processing information.
