Carnitine palmitoyltransferase 1A (CPT1A) is a key rate-limiting enzyme in the transfer of long-chain fatty acids from the cytoplasm to mitochondria for their oxidative energy metabolism in eukaryotic fatty acid metabolism. CPT1A gene can be regulated by a variety of transcription factors, hormones and metabolites in the body and affect the development of related metabolic diseases. It is a new target and hotspot for disease treatment and drug development. A comprehensive review of the role of CPT1A gene in physiological processes and regulation, the relationship between the disease and the progress of related drugs.
