Using the data of China Science and Technology Journals Citation Report published by China Science and Technology Information Institute and the data of China Journal Net, the relationship between the publication period of medical journals and influencing factors in China is analyzed in detail. The results showed that the influencing factors of quarterly, bimonthly, monthly and semi-monthly were 0.337 ± 0.234, 0.386 ± 0.256, 0.569 ± 0.405 and 0.517 ± 0.339, respectively. The statistical u test showed that the monthly and semi monthly contents were significantly higher than that of the quarterly and bimonthly. There are 26 kinds of journals with influence factors of more than 1, including 1 quarterly (3.85%), 7 bimonthly (26.92%), 17 monthly (65.38%) and 1 semi-monthly (3.85%). Among the top 20 journals with high impact factors, there are 16 kinds of monthly journals (80.00%) and 4 kinds of bi-monthly journals (20.00%). In 2002, 2003 and 2004, some periodicals changed their publication cycles (shortening the publication period). Paired t-tests before and after the publication period showed that the influence factors of periodicals with shorter periodicals were significantly increased. Therefore, it is concluded that the influence factors of medical journals in our country are gradually increasing with the shortening of publication period. Prompt us, in the case of manuscript sources, try to shorten the periodical publication cycle; semi-monthly impact factor slightly smaller than the monthly, suggesting that the transition from monthly to semi-monthly must be very careful, do not blindly change the semimonthly conditions. Otherwise, declining impact factors due to the decline in journal quality will be fatal.
