In the past 10 years, the US flexible packaging industry has been growing at an average annual rate of 3.4%, as shown in Figure 1. In 2008, the US flexible packaging industry had 420 companies and 1,000 factories with nearly 80,000 employees. Among the 420 companies, sales of large flexible packaging processors (with sales exceeding $ 500 million) accounted for 54% of sales in the US flexible packaging market and sales of medium-sized flexible packaging processors (with sales of $ 500 million to $ 500 million) Accounted for 26%, small flexible packaging processors (sales of less than 50 million US dollars) accounted for 19% of sales.
