According to data released by the Ministry of Commerce and Bureau of Statistics, as of the end of 2010, there were about 400,000 catering enterprises in the country, employing more than 22 million people and total retail sales reaching 1.76355 trillion yuan. In 2012, the revenue of China’s catering industry increased by 13.6% over the same period of last year, accounting for 4.48% of the annual GDP. The growth rate of the industry has continued to increase by a relatively large margin and has become one of the pillar industries in our economy.
