清康熙三十七年(公元1699年),康熙皇帝突然接到时任南京“江宁织造”官曹寅(据说,曹寅是《红楼梦》作者曹雪芹的祖父)的奏折,奏折的内容并非是说自己所辖的有关织造方面的事务,而是向皇上反映自从清兵入关之后,江南的汉民读书人多有不服,时刻企盼着“抗清复明”,表现较为强烈,经常聚众到东郊的明陵去吊唁哭庙,少时数十人,多时上百。
