The death penalty is the harshest of all the penalties and the oldest one. It is the deprivation of the life of the perpetrator. However, from the time of the Renaissance, humanitarianism gained universal attention. The core of humanity is respect for human rights, especially human beings’ right to life. This principle of value is introduced into penal punishment and even used to consider penalties. Most countries in the world have abolished the death penalty on the basis of this thinking.
