The Chinese-style risk society has shown the obvious co-existence of system of units and marketization, making the system a unique institutional factor that affects the risk perception of Chinese urban residents. The institutional factor is decomposed into the formal identity system and the non-formal social network. The impact of institutional dimension on the risk perception of Chinese urban residents is investigated. Based on the analysis of survey data from Social Network and Job Search in 2014, we found that the institutional ownership of Chinese urban residents has a significant impact on their risk perception, whereas the cross-institutional social network of daily life does not form Significant differences within and outside the system. Therefore, the institutional differences in risk perception of Chinese urban residents are more reflected in the rigid institutional ownership, and the construction of cross-institutional social relations network in daily life is difficult to break the rigid boundary of institutional attributes. At the same time, the results of data analysis also show that urban residents have some systematic risk perception differences in terms of gender, years of education and cities.
