种子生活力是指种子发芽的潜在能力,或种胚所具有生活能力。用碘与碘化钾溶液染色法可快速测定种子的生活能力。其操作如下: 从纯净的种子中取样两份,每份100粒,浸水10—12小时。浸种后纵切种子(要把胚部切成两半),将种子播在碘与碘化钾的混合水溶液(碘0.1克与碘化钾1.3克溶解在100毫升水中配成)湿润的沙中,用镊子将种胚朝下压入沙内约达种子的三分之一。播后沙床要加盖,在室温下放置2小时左右,然后取出检查。种子的胚如果发黑或深蓝色,则是死种子;种子胚不染色或染色很浅,呈淡蓝或灰色则是有生活力的种子。
