After 1986, the Magma Copper Company San Manuel solvent extraction electrowinning plant facilities were put into production. The initial plant facility was designed to process 25,000 t / y of electrowinning copper for the leaching of leached leach solutions from surface mines. Magma Copper’s initial solvent extraction electrowinning facility was built in 1986 to deal with the open-pit oxide cap ore of the San Manuel Ore. The mined ore (basically silicon malachite) is placed on a high-density polyethylene plastic liner. Then dilute sulfuric acid leaching. Leaching of the leach solution sent to the solvent extraction plant, eventually made of electrowinning copper.
