The CLOOS family company in Haiger, Germany, has a history of more than 70 years. In 1919, Carl Cloos engineers created a company called “Application Engineering, Machinery Manufacturing and Metalworking”, which specializes in the production of acetylene generators and oxy-acetylene welding torches. This is the predecessor of CLOOS. After World War II, CLOOS KG began production of welding machines in accordance with the needs of the then market. In 1956 it developed a CO_2 arc welding machine, which laid the foundation for modern MIG/MAG welding technology. In the early 1970s, CLOOS manufactured the first electronic component-controlled power supply and further developed it into a pulsed arc welding power source without sputtered transistors, which created conditions for the birth of arc welding robots. In 1978 the company manufactured the first welding robot, which is a 5-axis robot with a microprocessor controller. In the early 1980s, it developed a multi-functional 6-axis ROMAT robot system. Today it can produce robot cells that can be expanded to 12 axes with a high degree of flexibility, precision and a variety of programming functions. The purpose of CLOOS is to produce all the major components of the welding system. The robot system it provides includes: robots, robot controllers, welding equipment, and peripheral devices such as positioners, tools and guards, main controllers, and sensors.
