1 EXPERIMENTAL SCOPE AND SIGNIFICANCE 1.1 This typical experimental procedure is an extension and an updated version of TAPPIUM 557, “Paper and Board Resistant to Greases, Oils and Paraffins” (Anti-Grease Experiment). 1.2 This is a commonly known oil-repellency test that describes the steps of testing repellency and / or the moisture resistance of paper or paperboard treated with fluorinated sizing agents. Fluorination agents can affect the paper’s organic and hydrophobic properties by reducing the surface energy of the paper. By surface treating the fibers, no continuous film is formed. 1.4 The experiment was first developed to make paper makers understand the mining
