Experts in nuclear medicine and biology at Hiroshima University in Japan have made encouraging achievements in revealing the mechanism of cancer production. They isolated a genetic component from the rat that is thought to play an important role in causing cancer. Japanese experts determined at the initial stage of the study of the causes of cancer that the benign tumor cell RNA molecules in the test rats were denatured by certain chemical agents. Later, they injected a part of the ribonucleic acid molecule named “U-2” formed in this way into guinea pig leukocytes.
