The effect of the time it takes for trees to be pulped from the pulp mill to the unit consumption of pulpwood and to the operating cost of the pulp was examined. The mass loss of Pinus taeda, Eucalyptus dunnii and Eucalyptus grandis due to the change of water content was measured in winter and summer for more than 12 weeks. The quality loss depends on the species and the season. The mass loss is 2% ~ 13% during the first 5 days of storage and 36% after 12 weeks of storage. For a pulp mill with a capacity of 1000 t / d, if the pulping yield was 55.0%, more wood was consumed with fresh-cut wood to consume 1130 t / d of wood compared to the 12-week stored wood pulp; New cuttings sell for $ 45 / t, and pulp mills spend $ 50,850 more every day.
