Based on the data of CGSS (2010-2013), this paper analyzes the impact of father-advanced entrepreneurship on entrepreneurial opportunities for offspring. The results show that compared with the children of non-startup fathers, the progenies of father-in-law startups are more likely to choose to start a business. Combining historical facts such as the “Laidoff Tide” that occurred during the transition of China’s market economy, the employment of the number of unemployed workers at the provincial level in the 1990s was used as a tool variable to correct possible endogenous problems. It was found that the positive effects of father-advanced entrepreneurship on off-premise entrepreneurial opportunities still existed predominantly, which may be due to the transfer of informal human capital and wealth from offspring to offspring.
