Exabyte recently announced the Mammoth technology roadmap, specifically targeting Mammoth as its preferred tape drive technology to meet the growing storage needs of both database and application servers in terms of capacity and performance. The next generation of Mammoth tape drives will have an uncompressed data rate of 12MB / sec and an uncompressed capacity of 70GB. The data transfer rate is four times higher than the current Mammoth, which is a significant milestone in Exabyte’s product development strategy.
