Round headlights will gradually disappear from the United States car, is expected in a few years after the rectangular headlamps will be popular. Pontiac first introduced the new large rectangular headlamps to the new model Phoenix in the spring of 1977. General Motors and Ford Motor Co. will soon be using 5 × 7-inch headlights on several new models. A few years ago, GM used the smaller rectangular headlights first, and Ford National and Chrysler were also employed. A car has a total of four such small rectangular headlights (two high beams, two low beams), and the new large rectangular headlights use only two cars per vehicle (far and near light combined in a lamp) .
