Organoclay chemistry is the study of the interaction between clay minerals and various organic compounds and the formation, properties and transformation of organoclay complexes. Although this discipline has only two or three decades of history, it is widely regarded as a bridge between inorganic chemistry and organic chemistry. For example, P.G. Nahin (1963) made it clear that organochlorine chemistry is a major development in chemical research and that it will greatly expand the field of chemical research. And clay mineralogy will make a leap forward. Professor Ye Lianjun also highly appraised this emerging discipline in 1964. In his opinion, in the study of the genesis of metallogeny, organic clay chemistry
