H.2 6 4 / MPEG- 4 AVC是 ITU- T的 VCG(Video Coding Experts Group)和 ISO/ IEC的 MPEG(Mov-ing Picture Experts Group)最近联合开发的新一代数字视频编码标准。它的应用范围包括可视电话、视频会议、TV、DVD以及硬盘存储、流媒体、数字摄影、数字视频制作等等。和现有的视频编码标准 ,如 MPEG- 1、MPEG- 2、MPEG- 4 ASP相比 ,H.2 6 4 / MPEG- 4 AVC可以提供至少一倍以上的更加出色的压缩效率。 H.2 6 4 / MPEG- 4 AVC的核心技术与之前的标准相同 ,仍采用基于预测变换的混合编码架构 ,基本处理没有过大的改变 (预测 ,变换 ,量化 ,熵编码 ) ,但其通过对每个细节特别处理从而到整体效率的提升 ,另外 NAL概念的标准化使其利于适应各种网络条件下的传输。日前 JVT(JointVideo Team )已经为标准正式审批提交了最后的草案 (2 0 0 3年三月 ) ,关于 2 0 0 3年 5月获得批准。
H.264 / MPEG-4 AVC is a new generation of digital video coding standard recently developed by ITU-T’s Video Coding Experts Group (VCG) and MPEG-1 (Moving Picture Experts Group) of ISO / IEC. Its applications include video telephony, video conferencing, TV, DVD and hard drive storage, streaming media, digital photography, digital video production, and more. Compared with the existing video coding standards such as MPEG-1, MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 ASP, H.264 / MPEG-4 AVC can provide at least twice as much better compression efficiency. H.264 / MPEG-4 The core technology of AVC is the same as the previous standard. The mixed coding architecture based on predictive transformation is still adopted. The basic processing is not overly changed (prediction, transform, quantization, entropy coding) The special treatment of each detail leads to an overall increase in efficiency. In addition, the standardization of the NAL concept allows it to adapt to transmission under various network conditions. Recently, the Joint Video Team (JVT) has submitted the final draft for standard formal approval (March 2003), which was approved in May 2003.
