Most of the works of French writer Irina Nemilovski are characterized by “loneliness”, especially in his autobiographical novel Lonely Wine. In this novel, “loneliness” consists of three levels: loneliness is a problem; loneliness is a way of life for an individual; loneliness is an act of the individual “naming” oneself, Two elements of freedom and revolt. Through the soliloquy of the heroine and her growing up in solitude, the writer pondered and queried the hardships of industrial civilization and human being, historical rationality and individual existence as well as women’s discovery of “self”.
