A CPAFFC delegation headed by its president Chen Haosu attended the meetings of the Executive Bureau and the Council of United Cities and Local Governments-Asia Pacific Regional Section (UCLG-ASPAC) and the Annual Regional Training Forum with the themes of “Investment Climate: Economic Development and Employment Growth; City Cleanliness: Environmental Sustainability” in Batam, Indonesia from April 14 to 17. About 200 local government representatives from Indonesia and other countries and regions in the Asia Pacific region participated in the meeting. Chen Haosu who is also president of UCLG-ASPAC made an opening speech at the Annual Training Forum, in which he called on UCLG-ASPAC members to join the efforts to make the Second UCLG World Congress that would be held in Jeju, ROK in October this year a grand gathering of solidarity of local governments the world over and to show the achievement of unity and cooperation of the Asia Pacific region. At the Annual Training Forum, Liu Yang, deputy director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Beijing Municipal Government, spoke on the theme of “Investment Climate”. He gave an account of the efforts made and results achieved by Beijing in creating a favourable investment environment. Members of the next UCLG World Council and World Executive Bureau were elected at the meeting. Beijing was elected member of the World Council and the Executive Bureau.
