“Misogyny” is used to describe men’s dislike of women, that is, patriarchal women depreciate, abhor and contempt. This is reflected in the works of many male writers. The critics have been divided on Milton’s attitude towards women in Lost Paradise. Some accused Milton of being a misogyny and believed that in Paradise Lost, Milton described Eve as a bad woman and tempted Adam to steal the forbidden fruit of the tree of knowledge, leading to the ultimate degeneration of mankind. However, this article argues that although Milton was influenced by the limitations of the times and the social conceptions of the patriarchal society at the time, he believed that men did indeed outperform women. But he is not a misogyny patient, he created Eve has many new qualities, is a new female image.
