《最严厉的惩罚》原文载于《旗》杂志1982年第4期。作者自称这部小说是“当代悲剧”,说它与其他几部近作一样“是为了维护我们的孩子们,也就是为了维护我们的未来”而写的。小说发表后在苏联读者中引起较大反响,《文学俄罗斯》,《文学报》相继发表评论,对小说及其作者毁誉参半,莫衷一是。本刊在译载这部作品的同时,刊登了一篇有译者、编者和几位同行参加的讨论这部作品的座谈“侧记”,供读者参考。
The original “The most severe punishment” is contained in Flag No. 4, 1982. The author claims that the novel is a “tragedy of the present” and that it, like several other recent works, “is written to uphold our children, that is, to safeguard our future.” After the publication of the novel aroused great repercussions in the Soviet Union readers, “Literature Russia”, “Literary News” have commented one after another, the novel and its author reputation mixed, insurmountable. In addition to the publication of this work, the magazine publishes a “Side Story” discussion with the translator, editor and several colleagues to discuss this work for reference of readers.
