he CPAFFC, the China-Russia Friendship Association (CRFA) and the China-Russia Friendship Committee for Peace and Development jointly hosted a grand reception in celebration of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and the founding of the CRFA.
Zhang Dejiang, Chairman of the Standing Committee of China’s National People’s Congress, expressed thanks to the personages of various circles making contributions to China-Russia strategic partnership of cooperation.
Zhang characterized this as a model for how major countries can get along in the 21st Century, citing political trust, pragmatic collaboration, people-to-people exchanges and coordination on international affairs. Development of Sino-Russian relations was not only in the interests of the two countries, but also of profound international strategic significance. It was a historic responsibility to well maintain, develop and consolidate this bilateral relationship.
In her speech, Valentina Matviyenko, Speaker of the Russian Federation Council, said, recent years had seen enhanced political mutual trust between Russia and China and frequent meetings between heads of state. The two countries had not only established mechanisms for regular meetings at the prime ministerial level and parliamentary cooperation, but had also strengthened coordination and cooperation in regional and international organizations such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, BRICS, the UN and G20.
People-to-people diplomacy had become an effective approach to consolidate public support for bilateral relations and friendly organizations and personages of the two countries had made important contributions. She expressed Russia’s confidence in the future prospects of bilateral relation.
At the reception, Chinese and Russian youths gave a joint performance with the theme of Sino-Russian friendship passed on from generation to generation.
Wang Chen, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the Standing Committee of NPC, Chen Yuan, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and President of CRFA, Li Jianping, Vice President of the CPAFFC, and Andrei Denisov, Russian Ambassador to China, were among the 300 attendees at the reception.
