The exact route of transmission of Helicobacter pylori (HP) remains a matter of much debate. HP was detected in metaplastic rectal mucosa, suggesting that the bacteria can pass through the gastrointestinal tract. However, in developed countries, the fecal-oral transmission route of HP remains unclear. Specifically, HP has not been isolated from feces of these countries. This study, for the first time, reports the isolation of HP from feces of dyslipidemic patients in the United Kingdom. Thirty-six patients at the Addenbrooke Hospital in Cambridge, England, who underwent routine examinations of indigestion, were included in this study
