The amplitude mask and programmable scanning exposure technique were used to fabricate a long-period fiber grating device which can be used to realize the gain spectrum flattening of erbium-doped fiber amplifier on an ordinary single-mode fiber that has been hydrogen-sensitized. This device reduces the gain spectrum fluctuation of the erbium-doped fiber amplifier from ± 3 dB to ± 0.3 dB over a 30 nm bandwidth with an additional loss of less than 0.3 dB.
