By the end of October 1984, the county sold 100 Yuan cigarettes lost only 0.63 yuan, a decrease of 9.26 yuan compared with 9.89 yuan in the same period of the previous year. The cigarettes operated by the county last year not only reduced the loss of RMB 57,920 but also increased its profit by RMB 15,000. The county’s supply and marketing cooperative system, which used to be oblivious to the scientific custody of cigarettes, suffered a large number of losses due to moldy deterioration each year.
