The construction of China’s ports has long been under the condition that the state has taken over the investment and has begun to make changes in the direction of diversified cooperation such as the introduction of foreign investment, the investment of local investors and the investment of shippers. At present, China has built more than 3,000 ports and nearly 5,000 berths along the coast and inland rivers. There are more than 280 deep-water berths above the 10,000-ton coastline. A considerable number of these berths were built in the form of multi-channel financing after the 1980s.
