Sentimentalism exaggerates the role of emotion and shows dissatisfaction and resentment over social conflicts arising from the enclosure movement. Writers touched the scene, filled with sadness. Thomas Gray’s “The Elegy of the Cemetery”, the “Deserted Village” by Goldschmidt and the “Village” by George Crabbe are representative works of sentimental poetry. All of them describe the vicissitudes of British rural areas before and after the enclave movement, Expressed the poet’s profound emotional experience and the infinite sadness of the decline of rural areas due to enclosure movement. This paper starts with the relationship between enclosure movement and sentimentalism, and discusses the profound influence of Enclosure Movement on rural England, human nature, moral values and values, as well as its reflection in sentimental poetry.
