Through this interview, Samuel Weber vividly reviewed the experiences of learning with Adorno in the 1960s and presented the interplay of the teleological inclination and the “non-identicalness” in Adorno’s thought. Combined with the real situation of Adorno and the limitations of “non-same ” thought, the interview explored the insurmountable gap between the Frankfurt School’s theory of social critique and the political action plan. On the basis of the concept of “non-sameness”, Weber learned the thoughts of Kierkegaard, Benjamin, Derrida and others and further developed the “repetition” and “uniqueness” Concept. The interview also wrote that “poetic writing is barbaric after Auschwitz” leads to the problem of “foreign words” and Adorno’s identity. In addition, Weber provides a reference for the Chinese translation of “Essay” from the perspective of etymology and justice, and humorously reviews Adorno’s jazz criticism and Bob Dylan’s award.
