A review of the chemotherapy effects of squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck revealed that the efficacy was not clear, however, chemotherapy for head and neck cancer was very popular. In order to understand the current status of the treatment of head and neck cancer in the UK and the treatment of the treatment, the authors investigated 100 members of the British Society of Head and Neck Oncologists in the first half of 1983. The result was 82 letters of reply and 67 of them answered completely. Thirteen respondents (18%) stated that they did not receive chemotherapy for head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. Therefore, only about 80% of the respondents used chemotherapy. Thirty-three of them underwent chemotherapy in the undergraduate department. Almost all radiotherapy and oncology physicians treated themselves, while surgeons treated nearly two-thirds of them in undergraduate treatment, and the remaining patients were treated with either radiotherapy or oncology. 90% of the responders received chemotherapy for all cancers of the head and neck, and only 4 responders had restrictions on the location of the tumor.
