A new series of heavy-duty diesel engines has been designed, developed and put into production with a bore of 175 mm and a stroke of 220 mm. It is a single-row, vertical 4-cylinder, 6-cylinder and 8-cylinder direct-injection multi-purpose diesel engine that can be used for power generation, ships and locomotives with a power range of 400-960 horsepower and an average effective pressure of 17 bar 10 ~ 5Pa). This article focuses on the optimal design of airflow and fuel flow, thermodynamic calculations to optimize performance, and comparison of test data. The calculation of gas phase is introduced in detail. The issue of secondary injection has been solved by reducing dead volumes.
