The bioavailability of Cu, Pb, As, Cd and Hg in wild Artemisia annua L. was studied and the target hazard coefficient (THQ) Assess the health risks posed by exposure to heavy metals in their body. The results showed that the bioavailability of Cu, Pb, As, Cd and Hg in A. annua was 0.77, 0.66, 0.46 and 0.68 respectively. The THQ of adults and children calculated by risk assessment model were 0.030 and 0.025, respectively. The results showed that the content of heavy metals in Artemisia annua L. could not be completely absorbed by the human body and the contents of heavy metals in Artemisia annua L. used in the experiments were within the safe range. In this paper, the safety assessment of heavy metals in wild A. annua was evaluated based on the model of bioavailability and health risk assessment of heavy metals, which provided a reference for the rational formulation of heavy metals in Chinese herbal medicines.
