This article analyzes Alison, the character of the story from Joe Bath’s widow, and the historical background of the characters in Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales, which shows that although Chaucer shaped Eileen’s character more Plump and energetic, in stark contrast to pale and feeble female characters in traditional works. However, since the language used by Qiao Li belongs to the patriarchal society’s language, the image of the woman eventually shaped is still not fair enough. The essay is to illustrate the restrictive effect of group language on individual thinking and the devaluing effect of traditional patriarchal language on the image of women.
