“Robinson Crusoe” and “Lord of the Flies” have described the hero’s desert island adventure. They have similar beginnings, but different outcomes, because of the differences in the backgrounds and author’s outlook on life. Defoe lived in the primitive accumulation of capitalism and his world outlook led him to shape Robinson into a hero of the bourgeoisie in opening up the world. However, Golding, author of Lord of the Flies, took part in the unprecedented cruel Second World War and felt anxious and indignant about the true feelings that some people showed in the blood and fire. In this way, the original beautiful island became an abattoir.
