Robert Haas is a modern American poet who is the culmination of creation, translation and literary criticism. Haas uses the word flow to open up the channel into the subconscious and consciously accomplish the poetic “hypnosis” in the rhythm of poetry. The poet creates dreamlike feelings in hypnotic language, while awake and self-aware, often awakens the dream at the end. From three aspects, we can interpret and explain the hypnosis art in Haas’ poetry. First, Hass put the word flow into the poem and broke the boundary between time and space with the word flow composed of the seasons, Hypnosis and dream building; second, in Haas’s poem, “Light” has the function of softening the reality, purifying the memory and awakening the nightmare. Third, the essence of hypnosis in the poem is to soften the reality, and to use the poem as a container to carry the weight of reality, through which the “I” can wake up from the dream or memories. “Poems ” to eliminate the unbearable weight of life.
