德国功能翻译学派的目的论指出翻译行为所要达到的目的决定整个翻译行为的过程。电影片名的翻译主要为了达到推荐影片的商业目的,和传达异国文化的目的。此外,作为一个商标的特殊性使得电影片名的翻译应当具有美感。本文从目的论翻译原则出发,探讨了目前英汉电影片名翻译常采用的方法。并通过观察大量的实例,对英语片名汉译和国语片名英译的规律作对比研究。
The teleology of the German functionalist school of thought indicates that the purpose of the translational act determines the process of the entire translational act. The translation of movie titles is mainly for the purpose of commercial promotion of the recommended films and for the purpose of conveying the exotic culture. In addition, the particularity of being a trademark makes the translation of movie titles aesthetic. Based on the teleological principle of teleology, this article explores the methods commonly used in the translation of English and Chinese movie titles. Through the observation of a large number of examples, the contrastive study of the English translation of English titles and English translations of Chinese titles is made.
