Focusing on the characteristics of heavy diesel oil, the difficulties and countermeasures of its combustion on locomotive diesel engine are discussed. It is completely feasible to use heavy diesel oil on a locomotive diesel engine as long as strict viscosity control is implemented and corresponding improvements are made to the fuel injection system.
