Isotopic data were used to examine the explanation that gneiss in the Lewisite complex and a significant proportion of associated amphibolite rock are caused by ’reengineering’ or ’reactivation’ of the crustal scale. The new model obtained after the inspection is such that a Late Archean crust was affected by the superposition of a variety of different thermal and tectonic events during the early-middle Proterozoic crust, but they still retained their predominantly The chemical, mineral and structural characteristics. Beyond the younger igneous intrusions, some of the Lower Proterozoic sediments and strongly superimposed local areas, the characteristics of the Lewis complexes can still be used to illustrate the process and material properties of the Late Archean.
