磁带数字讀出可靠性的改进一般不是单靠降低記录器存貯密度就可以获得的。記录器的最大可靠性或是可靠性的貯备是随着存貯密度的不断增大而减少的。因此,在任何具体的应用中記录器最大可靠性是由过驅动写头、具有正适合的頻率响应和在所要求最高二进位信息密度下实用头工作間隙最寬三者来实現。換言之,記录器的最大設計密度应当正好滿足使用的要求。
Improvements in the reliability of digital readout of tapes are generally not achieved by simply reducing the storage density of the recorder. The maximum reliability or reliability of the recorder is reduced as the storage density increases. Therefore, the maximum reliability of the recorder in any particular application is achieved by overdriving the write head, with a positive frequency response and the widest practical head working gap at the highest binary information densities required. In other words, the maximum design density of the recorder should exactly meet the requirements of use.
