The objectives of this presentation are fourfold.First the speaker will briefly discuss the mechanisms of action and limitations of commonly used pulmonary vasoactive agents.Next the physiological actions of cytochrome P450 eicosanoid products or analogs in modulating pulmonary vascular biology will be reviewed.Third, the audience will be introduced to data implicating altered mitochondrial bioenergetics in ischemia reperfusion lung injury and advised how this information might predict outcome of injury.Finally, the potential of novel SPECT and optical imaging techniques to identify oxidoreductive lung injury in real time will be discussed.
