格物知性与由性生知是王夫之心性论的重要命题,这两个命题的关联表明了他的心性论与知识论互相作用的方式。首先,他规定了心、性、情诸概念的内涵,区分了心为主宰与性为主宰这两种说法的意义,主张以性做主去规范心的活动。其次,把格物作为知性的途径,强调知识活动对于价值活动的基础作用。最后,认为性是人的全部性质、全部获得的浓缩,从性中绎出、伸展出的知识活动才不会逸出价值理想的制约。格物知性和由性生知也是王夫之对王门后学的流弊提出的救治之方。
The knowledge of matter and the knowledge of nature are the important propositions of Wang Fu’s theory of the mind. The connection of these two propositions shows the way that his theory of mind and the epistemology interact with each other. First of all, he stipulated the connotation of the concepts of heart, sex and love, distinguished the meanings of the two concepts of being dominated by heart and dominated by sexuality, and advocated the activity of using sexual advocacy to regulate the heart. Second, using the grid as a way of knowing, emphasizes the fundamental role of knowledge activities in value activities. Finally, the idea that sex is the full nature of human beings, the enrichment of all, and the extension of knowledge activity without escape from the ideal of value.
