In recent years, researchers conducted a series of in vitro and in vivo studies on the relationship between cyclooxygenase-2 and oral mucosal precancerous lesions and oral squamous cell carcinoma, and found that cyclooxygenase-2 is involved in the occurrence and development of oral mucosal carcinogenesis, It is closely related to the prognosis of oral squamous cell carcinoma and the prognosis of oral squamous cell carcinoma. In animal experiments and squamous cell carcinoma cell lines were found cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitors can effectively prevent the malignant transformation of oral precancerous lesions, prevention and treatment of oral squamous cell carcinoma. Further study found that cyclooxygenase-2 and its inhibitors can participate in the process of carcinogenesis by affecting cell growth, apoptosis, movement and adhesion, angiogenesis and immune. The enzyme is expected to become a new target for oral precancerous lesions and prevention and treatment of oral squamous cell carcinoma.
