从河伯的自以为大而引出对大、小概念的七次问答,人们何为“大”何为“小”的界定往往都是从自我理解出发,从而也就对比出了三种不同境界的理解。大、小界定的第一重境界指受到主观成见限制,人们是从“以我观物”的角度看待大小;第二重境界指人们受制于人世间的“约定”的条条框框,从这种“约定”的规则去界定大小;第三重境界指混沌无分的大道境界,消除了任何物我分别的界限,绝对同一,以此观之,无有大小。超越前两重境界,才有可能达到第三重物我同一的境界。
