Objective To understand the mental health and coping styles of physicians of different genders. Methods A total of 120 physicians holding the occupational qualification certificates of the physicians were investigated by the male physician group and the female physician group using the SCL-90 and the SCSQ. The results were analyzed by SPSS12.0 Statistical analysis, and comparative analysis between groups. Results The male physician group scored higher than the female physician group in interpersonal sensitivity, depression and hostility. The coping style of male physicians was more negative than that of female physicians, P <0.05 or P <0.01. Conclusion Female physician’s unique soft personality is more likely to build a harmonious relationship between doctor and patient, so there is less contradiction between working-patient Chinese medicine and high mental health.
