臧懋循是明代戏曲家,所编《元曲选》录有朱权《太和正音谱》中《群英所编杂剧》目录,其实系依据臧懋循自己的所见及理解,对《群英所编杂剧》作的重新编制,我们拟题为《元曲选目》。《元曲选目》将《群英所编杂剧》剧目纳入《元曲选》者,移至最前集中依序排列,未入《元曲选》而臧氏经见者,移至入编《元曲选》剧目后,将臧氏未见未知的剧目移至最后,成为一种元杂剧臧懋循知见录。据此我们知道在《群英所编杂剧》范围内臧懋循经见的元杂剧作品概况,这对研究元杂剧在明代的流传以及研究臧懋循的戏曲思想有一定帮助。
